Blooming Buds School, a renowned educational institution in Moga city, under the leadership of Group Chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and Chairperson Madam Kamal Saini celebrated National Panchayati Raj Day. On this occasion, during the morning assembly in the school, students presented charts related to this day and informative articles about this day were also shared with the students. While sharing information, they said that National Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated every year on April 24. The main reason for celebrating this day is the 73rd Constitutional Amendment of 1992 which came into effect from April 1993, although Panchayati Raj was being practiced in India since ancient times. On 24th April 1993, Village, Intermediate and district level Panchayats came into existence. The Indian Constitution recognizes Panchayats as institutions of self-government. There are about 2.54 lakh Panchayats in our country, 6829 Block Panchayats and 659 District Panchayats. There are about 31.5 lakh Panchayat representatives. School Principal Dr. Hamiliya Rani told the students that Panchayat is the smallest unit in the Indian democratic system. At the level of a village, Panchayat itself handles the responsibility of an entire government. Today, students presented a scene of the village panchayat on stage at the school and showed all the other students how the village panchayat works. How the people of the village elect the Panch by voting and then the Sarpanch is elected. Along with this, it was also shown how the people of the village tell the Sarpanch about their problems. She showed that many types of small-scale civil and criminal issues are resolved at the Panchayat level. Apart from this, she said that it is also the responsibility of the Panchayat to take care of various village development works like proper provision of drinking water, sewage disposal, education and health services. She further informed that on this day, the best performing Panchayats are honored with various awards. All the staff were present on this occasion.
