Under the able guidance of Group Chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and Chairperson Mrs. Kamal Saini, World Chess Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Blooming Buds School, a renowned educational institution of the region. On this occasion, chess competitions were organized for students of various age groups in the school campus. Students participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their intelligence, concentration, and strategic thinking. During the morning assembly, School Principal acquainted the students with the history and significance of World Chess Day. She stated that every year on July 20th, this day is celebrated to commemorate the founding of the International Chess Federation in 1924. The United Nations General Assembly officially recognized this day in 2019, with the objective of promoting chess worldwide as an effective tool for education, sports, and intellectual development. In her address, she mentioned that chess is not just a game, but a medium that teaches the art of making the right decisions in life. This game develops logical thinking, patience, discipline, problem-solving ability, memory, concentration, and self-confidence in students. Chess inspires students to think carefully before every move and to plan for the future, which is very important for success in their academic and personal lives. Following this, chess competitions were conducted in the school campus according to various age groups. Displaying exceptional game play, the students set an example of sportsmanship, patience, and strategic thinking. The teachers also highly appreciated the students’ performances.
